Melissa's ion for weather stemmed from a fear of severe weather that later turned into an interest, hobby, and then a career path.

Melissa's journey to become a meteorologist started at the University of Iowa, where she earned a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication in 2020.

She then headed to Mississippi State University and earned her master's in Geosciences with an emphasis in Broadcast Meteorology in 2022.

Originally from the Midwest, Melissa knew she wanted to head back to the Midwest and Great Plains and landed in Lincoln, Nebraska, working at 10/11 News.
