KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - On Saturday, June 14, thousands of protesters across the country and right here at home are expected to the ‘No Kings’ protests.

Organizers say the ’No Kings’ protests are to reject authoritarianism, Trump’s immigration policies, and billionaire-first politics.

Nationwide, 2,000 protests are expected.

Below is a list of cities where demonstrations are planned in and around the metro:

Missouri

  • Mill Creek Park in Kansas City, on the Country Club Plaza
  • Clinton
  • Lee’s Summit
  • St. Joseph
  • Warrensburg

Kansas

  • Overland Park
  • Lawrence
  • Lenexa
  • Ottawa

Here’s what to know if you do plan to attend, according to the ACLU:

  • Your rights are strongest in public forums such as sidewalks, parks, or other public property
  • You can take photos or videos of things in plain view on public property
  • Counterprotests have the right to free speech
  • Private property owners can set rules for speech and for taking any videos or photos

Many local law enforcement agencies are monitoring the protests.

On Thursday, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe activated the National Guard as a ‘precautionary measure’.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas called Kehoe’s move ‘concerning‘, as the protests have yet to show any indication of becoming violent.
