LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (KCTV) - A teen bicyclist in Lee’s Summit has died following a car crash Wednesday morning.

It happened at the intersection of SW Jefferson Street and SW Scherer Road. The Lee’s Summit Police Department said emergency crews were dispatched to the area at approximately 10 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a crash involving a bicycle with injuries.

An initial investigation from police revealed the bicyclist was riding southbound on a sidewalk on the east side of SW Jefferson Street when they entered the westbound lanes of Southwest Scherer Road and collided with a car.

The bicyclist was taken to a trauma center, where police said he was pronounced dead. Police identified him on Thursday as 14-year-old Noah Lakey.

LSPD said the car driver was evaluated at the scene and declined transport to a hospital.

Noah Lakey was an outgoing 8th-grade student from Summit Lakes Middle School in the Lee’s Summit School District.
