FIRST WARN FORECAST: A few Friday showers before a steamy Father’s Day weekend
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - We wrap up the work week on a nice note, with Friday being the coolest day of the next week with highs in the low 80s. It will actually be a bit cooler than normal, but humidity will remain noticeably high for the foreseeable future. While a quick shower is possible for the first half of Friday, the headline moving ahead is the heat building into Father’s Day weekend. Highs surge to the upper 80s, and the heat index will range from 90 to 95.

FRIDAY: Slim 20% chance for a quick shower up to 2 pm, then sunshine breaking out for the rest of the day. The morning starts mild with temperatures near 70. The afternoon high of 82 is a couple of degrees short of the normal of 84. Winds will be light from the northeast at 5-10 mph.

FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND: Hotter with highs in the upper 80s and a heat index from 90 to 95. Saturday will be dry, and Sunday brings a slim 20% chance for an afternoon thunderstorm. Winds will be light from the south, around 10 mph.

NEXT WEEK: Hot upper 80s continue most of the week, with rain chances rising a bit. Scattered storms are possible Monday through Wednesday.
