WASHINGTON, D.C. (KY3) - Missouri Senator Josh Hawley is co-sponsoring a new proposal to raise the federal minimum wage.

The legislation, introduced by the Republican Hawley and Democratic Senator Peter Welch of Vermont, raises the minimum wage to $15 per hour. That is up from $7.25 per hour. However, many state laws push that much higher. It would raise the minimum age annually in line with inflation rates.

The senators say the minimum wage hike is necessary to help families cope with the financial realities of 2025. The senators have not introduced the bill on the Senate floor.
