Nice today with increasing clouds, rain returns for First Warn Wednesday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - We will see increasing clouds throughout the day, and by the afternoon, mostly cloudy skies and a high temperature in the mid-70s. Today will be similar to Sunday but cloudier.
Nonetheless, enjoy it because rain chances return after the sun sets tonight. Isolated rain showers this evening are possible southwest of I-70. Rain chances become spotty across the area tonight and into Wednesday morning.
WEDNESDAY: Wednesday brings a First Warn for scattered rain and isolated thunderstorm chances. We will have spotty rain for the morning, you may run into some activity on the morning commute. It will be when the kids are heading home from school and we are heading home from work that we will see better rain chances. Scattered activity is likely across the area. Overall, you’ll need to pack the rain jacket for Wednesday.
Despite the spotty rain, there will be ample dry time on Wednesday with temperatures starting in the mid-50s and rising to the upper 60s Wednesday afternoon.
THURSDAY: Rain chances will hang on Thursday, but are not expected to have a major impact on the day. The best rain chances will stay south and west of the Kansas City metro. High temperatures will reach around 70, and we should see some sun by Thursday afternoon.

WEEKEND: The rest of the week is spectacular! Get ready for sunny skies and seasonally warm temperatures for the end of the week and start of the next. High temperatures Friday begin in the low-70s. We will see upper 70s Saturday, and Mother’s Day looks great! High temperatures reach the low 80s on Sunday, and we keep the 80s going into Monday.
So many events are happening this weekend, from NASCAR to the Royals to Katy Perry to Steve Aoki - get out and enjoy. However, don’t forget your sunscreen and sunglasses!
